thick snow
and biting cold
the moon so pale
so hard edged
her face frost
and laced with
ice

smoke from the chimney
and warmth from the bottle
a long night of music
Siouxsie Sioux
on the car stereo
hooked up via car battery
and charger
an amplifier
and house speakers
the bass throbbing
the smoke swirling
the alcohol burning
and the moon
the moon
smiling down
her ghostly ambience
the trees skeletal
and empty of wind
empty of voices
just the ice moaning
and shattering the silence
soft and muffled
