where now can I find a smooth
curl of hill
to climb upon and stir my memory
sit a spell and contemplate
the serenity of being
let my back be exposed
for the
moment
my hair to slacken
and placate slim emotion

overhead glitter
and the stones and pebbles
of the beach
this ancient life
