miss a fire
the crackle and heat
sparks that land
on my smooth arms
and burn bright
pain

stare at the stars
while my feet get
hot propped up
against something
a warm jacket on

a fire stick to stir
the tinder

concentrate on the
blue rivers of flame
in the fires heart

embers pop like hyphens
crackle sharp as semi
colons

strange mystery twists
upward in the pallid
smoke
