Past and Siouxsie

sitting here in the dark
a cat purrs and rubs my hand

Siouxsies voice spills out of
the Acer package speakers
from a video from U-tube

something i have not heard
a Christmas video they made
eons ago
Robert Smith is in there
with his cymbals

its rather beautiful and i
like the grainy televised
footage and the horns

was watching Rammstein
and then checked out nose
art on ME-109's from World
War Two

light outside is failing
darkness slips in around us
like deep water

our memories fight upstream
the current of the sleep

eight forty six

still tired
yawning now
will have to go and
watch television
Saturday night tv is
pretty good usually

weekends such as these
are wastrel landscapes

but i get my rest
even though i am not
working as hard as i
have worked in my past
lives of now

i even bought a mango
from the Independent
Grocery store

oh oh oh oh

I have oranges
i forgot about oranges

sweet juice filled oranges
tender flesh

as a child we would get
candy and nuts and the
odd small toy in our stockings
for Christmas and in there
also was a large orange

because we were gifted with
having oranges year round
i never understood the exact
meaning of the orange until
i read local histories about
ten years ago to better understand
the local inhabitants of towns
i was living at at the time

Oranges were very much special
gifts that only came with good
seasons and weather
Winters in the past one would not
see an orange Only in the last
three years have i devloped a
deep passion for the lovely orange
and now I completely understand
the Christmas Orange!!!!!

Christmas was rock music time
and snow machines
we would always get a record or
two for Christmas too

we had snow machines as youth
and teens and we were allowed
to use them too My father was
not a despot or dictator He
was a much endearing person with
a good sense of humour and would
allow us to buzz about on his
machine that he liscensed insured
and put gas and oil in for us
to use

We would go with him on his weekends
off to visit many of his freinds
and my aunts and uncles
the scenery would be beautiful
and breathtaking

up here its so much flatter in
general long hills and terraces
like here in the city But down
where i am from there is more
lakes and smaller hills and
creeks swamps etc

its a lot higher in elevation
down there also

i was listening to this music
in the later years of my stay
at my father and mothers places
and when i moved to Carolees
in 1989 that was where i continued
to follow Siouxsie Sioux and buy
cassettes from the local music
shops

Lost touch with this music for
quite a few years and now with
the brand new computer and music
links to online i can listen
and download what i can

nine oclock now
must go

watch television
rub loris feet
