winter descends

cold as I glide along
the chain whispers and
leaves rustle under
the rugged tires

houses lit up and windows
glowing streetlights
orange light
through shadows and parked
sleeping autos
blinking anti theft
lEDS

winter will soon slip into
the days
they are frost ridden now
rooftops white with fuzz
burned off on my way home
in the afternoon

refreshing to cycle everywhere
still no gloves yet
but soon
and the winter jacket
