soon August comes

underside cool
this summer faltering
not the heat nor flat pan
heat idling in the thick
shade

but rains again come to stay
no play save those
adventurous and weatherproof

moodproof this evokes in
emotion feeling

my soul bends to this
the carnival feel of summer
slow end

arriving in shortened days
in months as we tip towards
winter
and stars rule the night

Coffee finished in percolater
time to move
to get a cup and start to
pick up the days that are
left behind in this apartment

the traffic mute and busy on
the main streets

my eyes searching
lest i miss what may be
there
