orgami's Diaryland Diary

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

thoughts on a day in wintertime

shoes pressed into soft rain damp snow
sun pressed into cloud mists
walking with speed to store
and shovelling people out of house
for holidays and home
taking a break from inside to get outside they are interesting on the way past I take my camera and take photo of ice on the signage at the corner photos of the little strip mall quaint and cozy in its fifties style pockets of goodies and the walk home a snowplow goes past
the lake looks haunted and beautiful from the hill that slopes down through
the limbs and houses high wires
past the tracks and dead end street beyond main that stretchs east to west

holidays slipping past
everyone happy with their swag
quiet at the moment
for the most parts

laundry in the wash machine
going round
pepsi in a bottle taunting me
with its crisp beverage bubbliness

two whole months without jack daniels
without scotch or vodka or brandy
whiskey or fortified ten per cent beer

third month tommorrow

just another day

contacts contacting me
i wander in my homemade
jacket with logo painted
on

i paint my paintings and
sketch my sketchs
and write my poems

the days go past

the silver in my
beard arrives and
head and i pull them
out one at a time
with patience
like a man pulls
dandylions from his
lawn

knowing that
its ineffective
to ward off nature

i see the deeper shades
of lines and shadows
on an amost fifty year
old face

i know that the canine
tooth will have to come
out time wear and neglect
of life on the road then
will have its day finally

losing weight
the bad back and pain killers
the now money for great food
luxuries the cutting back
on sugars and fat

keeping that healthy excessive
look gone replaced by the
addict look the long hair
the ragged clothes
I can move downtown invisible
although I remember the long
wool overcoat and boots
the summer deckshoes
sperry topsiders
button down shirts
and military summer jacket
sans badges

the bulova marine star watch
replaced with the pretty
Kodiak

I like the Now

the top line logo shirts
from a freind
so I can at least look
fashionable in a young
vein of appearance

in cave man days I would have
maybe hit forty
even today I have passed the
years but only from being
rather quiet

the real ones who dared the
face of god went out every
day and put their best efforts
in

the lived and blazed
I simmered at best!!

and yet

I write scribbling away
looking at the world in my
manner of looking

enjoying the olden times I am
facing now
