Looked for you on the street
all the corporate lovelies
college degreed and hustle
Dolce Gabbana and Chanel

watched the company cars
cruise past and kick ass
service trucks

looked at the flags atop
the cliff face towers
in slick walled glass

nothing but hundred dollar
highlight jobs
and the shimmy shakers
goverment cheque magicians
and mannequins behind
the scene

I looked I did my best
and read NEW YORKER
slid down on the faux leather
chairs pulled a paper
from the rack to scan the index

Read a chapter of Eckhart Tole

but i needed the pace of the
wheels turning
the chain squeaking
the ravens calling

four dollars and fifty three
cents

cheese cake Mexican dark coffee
and a flash of smile
from the waitress

sometimes just sometimes
a day is that simple
