the lakes

christmas lights and christmas charm
and im counting change and cigarettes
a partner ex away in hospital
the routine of what i must do following

politics and business
and the matters of the heart
and forever the dark
like shadows
ecliptic and thoughtful

exhausted
tired
aching

no time for mall to pick up things
this cold intense lately
beautiful if one has a car
a bus pass or money for such

donated to the causes
im just a cog in the machinery
waiting my turn for contact for
it all to keep turning
