orgami's Diaryland Diary

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

the end it should be near somewhere

so here comes another
birthday
and im still fat and old
with a back thats moody
and a mind that burns
at that basic level

somewhere between light
and dark
and all the reserves
therein

whats to say about surviving
to this day of age
wiped out new orleans
ice sheets melting
gas two dollars and rising
smog heat waves
tornadoes and locusts

ha ha ha

sooner or later we'll all move
back to the caves
painting animals
the great hunt

and then??
the great nothing

perhaps

our megacities

where when will
the plague thats due
will emerge from its
sarcophagus
skitter about
touching hand to hand
to eye to mouth

nose to ear

what are we rushing
towards
thundering across the
great continents
hungering for

our glittering palaces
halls of beasts slaughtered
for our endless appetites
of flesh and more flesh

society still hangs on though
the polite and persistant

we still have our air conditioner
our television and our computer
our combustion engines
hand on the throttle

spray paint can
botox injections
another moulded product
another sneaker stitched

for every cure we devise
resistance sneaks behind us

its all small now
nothing to concern ourselves
turn the channel

pump up the volume
wash the car
oil the bike

throw out another
tub of papers

water the lawn
flush the toilet

wow its all these
documentaries ive been
watching and the news

i have seen Chernobyl
the forests
the feilds taking over
the city
the instant decay at work

i have seen blueberries
the size of marbles
genetic mutations

call it what you will

i just take note of all of
this

i have read the books from
the library about plagues
and drug resistant bugs they
have now

about past plagues
and wars
about doomed ships and airliners
the simplest of acts
ignorance is bliss

today was a good day though
thunder in the sky
and lightening

and our radio playing forever
and ever eighties music

and i mix more plaster
and sand more casts
modify and mulitply

and a new job

tree waterer
something new

yesterday they let me cut
the plastic off the moulded
plaster mould

a stryker saw with the little
vibrating blade
the kind surgeons also use to
cut open the skulls of patients
same sound

what no one told me was the
longer you use the damned thing
the hotter it gets
and its difficult to hold
a person needs two hands
it wants to jump and run on its
own

but i struggled through the two
legs made only minor mistakes
the learning curve

yesterday i changed flourscent
tubes with the small footstool
ladder

been at this place now for seven
months probably in all that time
the glacier somewhere melted back
twenty feet somewhere and the oceans
rose a couple of millimetres
from all the other glaciers around
the planet melting too

onward we hurtle
aging as the turtle
never catching
our shadow

now to check out Chat
see what kind of human intelligence
is on tonight

..O..
