dark morning
winter season

farewell the light

the streetlamp walk
to work
while they switch off
pools of bright cold
dampness
where rain or snow
is falling
illuminated in their
descending trail

the little pool
the glittering homes
with awakening
windows
and hissing cars
grumbling past
their motors purring
like cats

so changed are the style
of view
the way of clouds
now shredded and dramatic
the smoke in the air from
wood fires
sharp and wonderful

each exhaust breath from
trucks each brand of vehicle
different

such a fine season
from uncluttered heat filled
summer
