and then.....

sitting in the lunchroom
sunlight falling in the window

on the walk home the dirt black
banks eroding with the radiation
with the sunlight burning down

Watched an F-18 Hornet take off
from Jack Garland Airport up
on the escarpment top
lift off over the flight path
above the city and head out
over the fish huts on the frozen
lake

the black limbed trees and swaying
phone and cable lines the squirrels
balance on

the windows are pleasant and
watching
and traffic is subtle

I want to know the mystery of
the island mirages
feeling the memory of the summer
wind and the breakers down at
the goverment wharf

we has so few months left
