Tour de Macs

push the bike in low gear up the street
the low grade climb up three streets
passing the lit up houses in this
sequentially beautiful neighbourhood
large mature city trees balsams and
one tall elm still

I can see the lights of the Macs and
the other stores in the little
mall pass the gas pipes behind the
eight by eight fence Come winter
they will be hissing like a wailing
banshee on cold nights when Im
coming up here everyone uses natural
gas going up the north west end

Macs full of light and interesting
merchanidise money machine in corner
rack of books for hunters ladies children and horny men (top rack)
rows of coolers for ice cream pop
milk and other treats just lay up
your cash at the counter or the plastic
fantastic cards buy some tickets
from the neon plastic drums or the
scratch draw ones

head out with my bag of loot for the
girls at home and the city is so
beautiful just at dark the streetlights
on people out walking cars whizzing
down the street The view from
atop Jane Street Looking south east
beautiful the city rolled out below
then turning off Jane the view of
the lake the sunset still a few
fingers tall against the clouds
the rain not yet falling like a
waterfall
