orgami's Diaryland Diary

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

it was in the fall of 1985/84

what were we in back then
the Chevrolet but which one
the sixty eight with the
rebuilt engine primer
and I think a green hood
looked like a car from Vice City
before the game even was long
thought about We were in the eighties
in that thing Black vinyl interior
cant think of the style name
Chevelle that was it

the one that got totalled in the
front end collision a year or two
later

sitting in the old Lumberyard
on the side of the hill the old
rail line converted to a roadway
miles past the village nothing
but Algonquin Park Acess and hunt
camps fishing creeks lakes

the main frame of the mill still
standing emptied except for the
cutting bed and the huge sawmill
saw that still turned
we were laughing trying to turn
it with our hands kicking it with
our feet the drive wheel that
would have been turned by a gas
or deisel engine
we took black and white photos
of us the forest slowly reaching
in around the clearings

so still out there
we were just kids then still
twenty something if

I dont know who has those photos
or if they care anymore
Im the only one who said screw
it and have kept away

they tore down the mill remains
a few years later and took away
the saw

but funny how memories are still
so fresh and vivid and dreams
can take me back to places I
had thought I had forgotten

nothing is forgotten sometimes
