city

red and black recharge batteries
full of juice The red light shuts
off on the charger
I have two cameras now digital
and ancient but take great pics

I say there are beautiful things
to take photos
Old 503 sitting on the tracks
the train yards full of equipment
between the city and the lakeview
drive the whitecap waves on the
green lake suffuse and beautiful

broken plywood on the old driving
cab where people sleep at night
Dogshit mountian full of weeds
and worth the view of the lake
from the little climb up
all the old cement drain tiles
for cats and the lost there
are cardboard and old couch cushions
in some down by the poplar trees
between the old chain link

there is the connector drain
basin huge and capped with concrete
like a huge hobbit bunker
in the rain it is a place to hang
out far from the prying eyes
a corner pocket of land
the roadway and paths
leading here and there

the bus depot just a hundred fifty
nine feet away from the engine
ten cars West on the old rails
set up

take pictures of the lake
the little oddities that fascinate
me the structures the random
the people

I have taken few pics of people
preferring to seek them out to
see their expressions talk to
them or just sit quiet drinking
coffee at Twiggs on the patio
watching the ravens on the micrwave
tower swooping

the trail goes under the old rail
line there are always rail cars
of all varieties and the bush
there to make is semi private
and park like
Spraypaint graffiti on them all
and down by the refinery past
the shit plant is the suicide
bridge in the old park
the hydro plant full of wires
and transformers the public works
park with all its random stuff
and the rail line with no fence
just the dirt road that brings
you back to Lakeview road
the bike paths and beachs
and the stone wall

the city is distant across
the rail line and the soon to
be developed park lands
the lake is right down
there beautiful and exansive

I take no pictures
just take the camera with
me all over

the city is alive
and wonderful
full of so many interesting
things

so many stories
