saphire lights
sharp again
the retina settles
and shifts

walking through the room
the wood floors steady
the lights jilted up
against the old patterns
the shinning glass
cheap with printer photos

extends her three fingers
and leans against her arm
her aqualine nose drawing
close

the nostril flares as she
takes her drink in the old
glass and holds it to the
flesh of her warm lip

the rain is steady against
the old poured glass

the windows tall and full
of exposure A time of gas
lamps A time when night
was king and mystery his
mistress
