orgami's Diaryland Diary

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

stucco memory

hills of colour
the fall air rich in aromas
burning leaves
woodsmoke
rain sometimes
the air dry skittish
leaves like brittle
husks dancing cross
the road and street
the empty parkinglot

not far off
already we have had
a sketchy spring summer
hot some days and then
a week of overcast cool
breezes
and rains and thunderstorms
tempestous and growling
waking me up to stand
at the window and look
at the distant streetlights
at the parking lots edge
hearing the big trans canada
highway just two blocks up
the grade behind the trees
and houses the occasional
plane landing at the big
airport up on the escarpment
the landing lights and
nav nights winking through
the clouds sometimes

and the stars our city not
big enough to swamp them out
with the lurid light pollution

and so it goes
forever and a day
