creek crush

night walkers and day joggers..
home made crack pipes
and dog shit piles
shiny as plastercine

I look at the hill flecked with
its shiny yellow trees
the last before the winter
the dog pulls on her lead
Pink studded rhinestone collar
and her back legs digging in
her front paws elevated
She is passionate about
this walk..this time
sniffing and tracking
and leaving her calling
card..her mark..a beautiful
colour..a beautiful coat

and I hold on with my one
hand and in the other I smoke
seeing the little trees I will
cut away with my japenese
mitre saw...clearing up the
shrubbery wild here pushing
back the trail...
stepping on the weeds
and kicking off the leaves
one foot at a time with
every walk....

another winter...another year
hang on..hang on..
while the wall of winter
like a thick shroud envelopes
us with its softness its
feirce cold kisses
and tempest blast

basement cleaned up
fans in computer oiled up
dusted with my paint brushes
puffed out with the bike pump
and its air matress nozzle
shined up and put back together
runs quiet..smooth

basement vacumed from its concrete
dust...the oxygen in the air breaks
down the chemical bonding

from many books in the library
not school smart but books smart..
ready for christmas..
outside cleaned up..
house cleaned up today
laundry put away...
smokes bought
coffee still enough to last
till next paycheck

missions to do on X Box..
work tommorrow
life in the city...
life is life to live
we have a life
we have a right

our dreams
