city at night

rain on the roof
rain onf the tin porch next door
rain singing on the ashphalt and
shinning underneath the light
a waterfall
a steady cataract of song
and south
tornadoes ripped up Ontario
and flooded the DVP
stranded motorists and golfcourses
submerged
all that didnt fall throughout
the summer catchs us in the late
summer

and I fall asleep to the night
with no rain
traffic
and aircraft descending to land
at the city airport
landing lights shinning like
jewels above the soft
hues of the night skyline
