bill runner

Snow drifts down thickly
settling on limbs and wires
bird and beast
making slush where salt is
thickest
slippery paste where cars
slip and trucks slide
accidents and fire trucks
idling ambulances and flashing
beacon

the bus almost hit a recycle truck
backing out of a side street
missing us narrowly
lots of this happening today
some lucky
some unlucky
and all the while the snow
blows down and builds up
fills the sidewalks and footsteps
roadways and rooftops
piles up on sleeping pigeons
lies heavy on branchs

damp air

sometimes clear then it clouds
over and more of the same
claustrophobic feeling
too much snow to go to my meeting
I have a big enough day tommorrow
running some errands still
Lori working till noon

tired now from the stress
must sleep soon early tonight
television murmurs away
Lori resting but listening to the
television and me typing over here
clattering away on the keys of the
keyboard

BUT we have our food for the month
hydro will get paid tommorrow
cable and netscape tommorrow

sustenances and luxuries
small wonders and bright gems
..O..
