miles by rails
leaning in the train seats the colourful cloth the winter scenery passing as the coachs held on to long sloping curves urged on by the engines far ahead tall hills of pines trunks of birchs and countless lakes and creeks open expanses of flat lowlands cupped by green wintered forests everyone almost sleeping including my Lori myself too wired to miss anything watching as the wires on the outdated telegraph poles rose up and down or were missing on poles fallen over and lost in the undergrowth now tall along the tracks long before satellites poles full of glass insulators shunting electricity between so many manned stations steamers thundering on the lines baggage cars coachs sleepers sunlight pouring down on the crystalline scenery the fans running blowing warm air along the long windows drowsy my head falls and I too sleep rocked by the motion as we weave the old route laid down by man and horse
