morning ritual realities

wake
wake from dreams

my back complaining
from being stretched as flat
as it does
sit too long in a day and
is unhappy also

wake needing a coffee
knowing I will stand for
minutes holding the kettle
keeping the flow just right
or the water will rise above
the filter in the cup
and the grounds will plug
up the pour hole in the bottom
will run down into the waiting
carage

overcast today but bright
no rain is it hot is it cold
impossible to tell with the
air conditioner changing this
atmosphere in here

Im dressed in black
sometimes I like all black
sometimes not

but I really do need a coffee
and two 222's painkillers
did a lot of jouncing off curbs

on the bike and did a lot of riding

just a part of getting near fifty
but it was fun today on the bike

felt alive for a change
